ADMINISTRATOR PROCEDURES for INTERN PLACEMENT
Complete Administrator’s Survey
If interested in hosting student interns at your school from Universities/Colleges who have district approved Affiliation Agreements on file, please complete the Administrator’s Survey located at this website. The survey will identify your school as willing to host student interns for the present school year and the number of confirmed trained Clinical Educators, reflected by the SDES screen. This data will be provided to the universities/colleges.

to accept placements
University/College representatives are required to secure a placement for each student intern wishing to complete an internship in a Miami Dade County Public School. Using the data from the Administrator’s Survey, contacts will be made to those schools interested, and that have a qualified Clinical Educator in the subject area required. All Supervising Teachers must have taken the Clinical Supervision for Educators/Clinical Educator Training as reflected by the SDES screen (Florida Statute 1004.04).
After contact is made by the university to the school site administrator, and the Clinical Supervising Teacher agrees to host an intern, the University/College representative must complete the top section of the Intern Placement Agreement form. The information required to be completed by the university includes:
- name of university/college
- name of student intern
- start/end dates
- student intern’s major
- grade(s) preference of intern
- school site assignment
- clinical supervising teacher assigned *
- signature of university/college representative
*NOTE: If administrator is unable to provide the name of the supervising teacher at the time the university contacts the administrator, it may be left blank, however this may cause the placement to take longer to process. We will not approve the placement until a name of the supervising teacher has been provided to our office by the administrator and the criteria confirmed (see below).
The University/College representative will electronically forward the Intern Placement Agreement form to Dr. Jan Fackler at firstname.lastname@example.org. Upon receipt of the Intern Placement Agreement, the Center for Professional Learning will confirm the Clinical Supervision for Educators/Clinical Educator Training qualifications, confirm student intern fingerprint clearance status, enter placement information into database, complete cover letter, and electronically forward the Intern Placement Agreement with Cover letter to school site.
Receive and complete electronic contract
Administrator will electronically receive from the Center for Professional Learning the INTERN PLACEMENT AGREEMENT with a Cover page containing all directions needed to complete the agreement.
The information required to be completed at the school site includes:
- Confirmation of acceptance
- School name
- Administrator’s name
- Administrator’s initials confirming Clinical Supervision Training of assigned Supervising Teacher
- Pertinent information relating to, and completed by, the Supervising Teacher
- Signatures of both the School Administrator and the Supervising Teacher
All portions, on both pages, must be completed and all signatures at the school site are required.
Scan completed Intern Placement Agreement and send electronically
Once complete, the INTERN PLACEMENT AGREEMENT and Cover page, will be scanned and both pages sent electronically to Dr. Jan Fackler @ email@example.com.
Receive INTERN PLACEMENT CONFIRMATION letter electronically
student intern to begin
Upon receipt of the INTERN PLACEMENT AGREEMENT packet, the Center for Professional Learning will review. If approved, an INTERN PLACEMENT CONFIRMATION letter will be sent electronically to the school site administrator. The student intern may begin the internship once this letter is received.
*NOTE: The Student Intern cannot begin until school receives INTERN PLACEMENT CONFIRMATION letter.
If you are unable to place the intern as previously agreed, the cover page must be returned indicating that you will not accept the intern to Dr. Jan Fackler @ firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to (305) 884-8142.
Student intern placements are made twice a year; April/May for the following Fall placements and October/November for the following Winter placements. Fall placements usually begin at the beginning of the semester in August and Winter placements usually begin in January after the break.
The student intern must be under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervising Teacher at all times. The intern may not be used as a substitute teacher or be used to cover a class for any reason as this violates the college/university insurance policy.
