Title II Teacher Quality Program
(formerly Eisenhower Professional Development Program)

The Teacher Quality Program is authorized under Title II of the No Child Left Behind Act for the purpose of providing teacher education programs to improve teaching and learning in the core curriculum areas of language arts, science, mathematics, and social studies. The Teacher Quality Program funds professional development activities that are tied to challenging state or local content standards, that take into account recent research on teaching and learning, that include strong academic content and that are of sufficient duration to have a positive and lasting impact on the teacher's performance in the classroom.

The professional development activities provided by the Teacher Quality Program include intensive, on-going workshops as well as rigorous, content-oriented courses that focus on upgrading subject area knowledge and instructional skills and include the use of instructional technology. The activities emphasize a conceptual approach and integrate "hands-on" problem solving learning strategies for implementing the M-DCPS Competency-Based Curriculum and the Sunshine State Standards.
