SMILE: This six day grades K-5 inservice program focuses on the integration of hands-on math and science with children's literature utilizing strategies found in the nationally renound CRISS (Creating Independence through Student-owned Strategies) program. It focuses on teaching math and science through reading, writing, speaking and listening. Each teacher will receive math and science materials and 30 Master Plan Points upon successful completion. |

Elementary Hands-on Math (K-5) (K-2/ESE): This five-day inservice training program for teachers of grades K-5 focuses on the use of manipulatives and the integration of children's literature in the teaching of mathematics in the elementary school (K-5) program. Emphasis will be placed on strategies for implementing the Sunshine State Standards and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) standards. Hands-on activities using teacher made as well as commercially produced manipulatives and strategies. Materials and 30 Master Plan Points will be given to each participant upon successful completion. |

Elementary and Middle Hands-on Science (K-8): This five-day inservice training program for teachers of grades K-5 focuses on the use of student-involved activities and an interdisciplinary approach for teaching science at the elementary school level. Emphasis will be placed on strategies for implementing the Sunshine State Standards and the National Science Education Standards. Strategies for integrating literature and hands-on activities utilizing teacher-made as well as commercially produced materials that support the National Mathematics and the Sunshine State Standards will be presented. Materials and 30 Master Plan Points will be given to each participant upon successful completion. |

HOME (Hands-on Math Experience) (4-5) (6-7): This five-day inservice focuses on Algebra, Geometry and Data Analysis for the upper elementary and middle school student (4-7). Hands-on activities using teacher-made as well as commercially produced manipulatives and strategies to support the National Mathematics and The Sunshine State Standards will be presented. Materials and 30 Master Plan Points will be given to each participant upon successful completion. |
